The opening ceremony of Auto Shanghai 2007 was held at evening of April 21 at SNIEC South Square. A unique performance was presented to VIP guests and press which was different from previous editions.

A-Class auto show no matter on exhibition size, booth design, investment, quantity and quality of
exhibited vehicles (first appearance cars and concept cars ) The total exhibited car is 868, overseas car is 265, among of which 130 was imported directly from overseas, domestic car is 603. Totally,
5 global first appearance cars, over 20 concept cars, 10 new energy cars, which rank the top among all editions.General Motors Corp. chairman G. Richard Wagoner Jr., BMW chairman Dr. Norbert Reithofer, Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group and Yoshi Inaba Vice Chairman of Toyota Motor Group show up on the press day. In the meantime, domestic own auto brands have become an unneglected power of Auto Shanghai 2007 with a great involvement.

Press days of April 20 and 21 has draw great attention from international mainstream media, like BBC, NHK, CNN, Bloomberg LP, etc. Totally, 6056 home and abroad journalists and reports have come cover the show in the two press days. Exhibitors have host 55 press conference.

On the opening ceremony, home and aboard artists presented an excellent performance. Vice Mayor Tang Dengjie and Mr. Zhang Xiaoyu, Executive Vice President of CIIMC participated in the opening ceremony. Chairman of China Association of Automobile Manufactures,SAIC chairman Hu Maoyuan and Vice Chairman of CCPIT Shanghai Sub-Council delivered a speech individually. During the opening ceremony, Chairman of Shanghai World Expo Group Dai Liu donated one million RMB to 2007 Shanghai Summer Special Olympics.

April 22 is the first day open to trade visitors. 103567 times of visitors from 92 countries and regions came visit the Auto Shanghai 2007 in spite of the heavy rain, which top (one day times of visitors) in the history of Auto Shanghai. Organizes have foreseen this and have well prepared with comprehensive plan in advance and launched onsite emergency resolutions, which ensures the onsite consequence in a good manner.
