National meeting of Auto Products Export held in Beijing
The national meeting of auto products export was held in Beijing. Minister of Commerce Mr.Bo Xilai attended the meeting.
Mr.Bo addressed that China is the world’s second largest consumer, third largest producer and biggest potential market of automobile. Auto export volume from January to July this year had jumped 70.3% to 294,000 cars, with the export of auto parts up 32.4% to 8.85 billion US dollars. Mr. Bo appreciated the efforts of local governments of car export bases, such as Shanghai, Xiamen, Chongqing, Wuhan, Changchun, Taizhou, and Wuhu, in bolstering auto industry and the development of export bases.
Bo pointed out that auto industry was at a critical point of its development. The Ministry of Commerce, together with related ministries and departments, would provide necessary policy support for the healthy growth of auto industry and auto export bases. Mr.Bo reiterated the importance of raising the threshold of market access, standardizing auto export, encouraging brand awareness and technical innovation, and promoting international cooperation of the auto industry.
Officials from related ministries and representatives of over 70 auto exporters attended the meeting chaired by Vice-Minister of Commerce Wei Jianguo.
