Sinotruk parent receives orders for 140,000 vehicles

The parent of Chinese heavy-duty truck maker Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Ltd said on Wednesday it had received orders for 140,000 vehicles for 2008 delivery, paving the way for it to hit its sales target.
The company previously set a target to sell 125,000 to 135,000 heavy trucks this year, including 25,000-30,000 units for exports.
Overseas orders have amounted to nearly 30,000 units, including roughly 8,000 from Russia, one of its major export destinations, China National Heavy Duty Truck Co said in a statement.
The company also said its sales soared 66 percent year on year to 100,619 units in 2007.
