CNH Industrial Takes Delivery of 100 Magirus fire engines to Chile

www.chinatrucks.com: CNH Industrial has commenced delivery of 100 Magirus tank-pumper fire engines to Chile’s national fire department, following a handover conducted 30m above ground by Magirus CEO Marc Diening on two Magirus M42L-AS articulated turntable ladders in Germany.

The major fire-fighting equipment delivery includes a combination of 71 TLF 4000 C4 Semiurbano 4x2 fire-fighting vehicles – including 16 twin-tyre 4x4 units – and 29 TLF 3000 C5 Forest 4x2 forest-firefighting vehicles.

All of the 100 Magirus fire engines are built on the Iveco Eurocargo chassis and have powerful 220 kW or 299hp engines. The C4 Semiurbano models, with their all-steel crew cabins, are designed for a fire brigade teams of 1+8.

The large, external water tanks meanwhile have a capacity of 4,000 litres, and all of the vehicles have a Magirus MPN230 centrifugal pump with a capacity of 3,000 litres per minute at 10 bar.

The 29 Magirus C5 forest firefighting vehicles are based on the 150E30 WS Eurocargo chassis, in the single-tyre all-wheel variant, with an all-steel cab designed for a fire brigade teams of 1+5.

The technical firefighting structure includes a 3,000-litre tank, and additional heat protection for the crew and vehicle.

Chile’s national fire department often has to fight forest fires of immense scale, including a blaze at the beginning of the year that destroyed an area of over 370,000 hectares – four times the size of Berlin, Germany.

The complete order of Magirus vehicles is being shipped to Chile set off from Germany, and the official delivery of the order to the Chilean fire departments will take place upon their arrival.
