Madagascar President Rajoelina Visits Foton Motor
On September 11, 2024, during the Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing, Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina visited the headquarters of Foton Motor. The President was warmly received by Foton Motor' Chairman Chang Rui, Party Secretary Cai Enyu, and Executive Vice President Lu Zhenghua.
During his visit, President Rajoelina had the opportunity to explore Foton' full product range and gain insights into the company's history, technological innovations, and global strategy. He tested riding several Foton vehicles, including the FOTON AUV hydrogen fuel cell city bus, the AUV pure electric city bus, and a school bus. Rajoelina praised the comfort and advanced features of these vehicles, noting their significance in enhancing Madagascar's transportation infrastructure. He expressed a strong interest in deepening cooperation with Foton to support Madagascar's economic growth and modernization efforts.

In a roundtable discussion on economic development, President Rajoelina highlighted Madagascar's potential for commercial vehicle market expansion, given its strategic location connecting the Pacific and Indian Oceans with Africa. Foton’ Chairman Chang Rui reaffirmed the company’s commitment to collaborating with Madagascar under the "Belt and Road" initiative and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum. Foton aims to contribute to Madagascar’s modernization through advancements in green transportation.

Since entering the Madagascar market in 2012, Foton has established significant partnerships, offering a wide range of products including heavy trucks, light trucks, pickups, vans, and new energy vehicles. The company has also made notable strides in other African markets like Nigeria, Zambia, and Ethiopia. Foton's strategic plan includes increasing investment in Africa and providing comprehensive solutions to more countries in the region, further strengthening China-Madagascar and China-Africa relations and supporting the vision of "global southern modernization."
